PSAT

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It’s a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives students a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

The PSAT will be administered in October each year at the high school. All Sophomores and Juniors will have the opportunity to sign-up to take the PSAT. The school will cover the cost of the test for students. Mr. Edler will meet with 10th and 11th graders in September to provide information on the PSAT.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams

Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams can have a huge, positive impact on your future!

Through college-level AP courses, you enter a universe of knowledge that might otherwise remain unexplored in high school. Through AP Exams, you have the opportunity to earn credit or advanced standing at most of the nation’s colleges and universities. These college level courses require students to meet high standards for success. They require reading and writing skills at a superior level as well as abilities to analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and create.

Students selecting AP courses must be highly motivated and self-directed learners. All students enrolling in AP courses are highly encouraged to take the Advanced Placement exam for that course. Students considering college in their future plans may want to enroll in an AP class before graduation. The experience and preparation required will give you a good idea of what a college class will be like.

AP exams occur the first two weeks in May. Miss Hornberger is the AP Coordinator and will work with students on registration.

Check out College Board’s website for more information and tips on AP Exams.
