Our Curriculum: Mapped for Success with Atlas

At the Montoursville Area School District, we are committed to providing a rigorous, consistent, and transparent educational experience for every student. To achieve this, we utilize Atlas, a digital curriculum management platform that serves as our district’s academic roadmap.

What is Atlas?

Atlas is an online tool that allows our teachers and administrators to document, analyze, and share our curriculum. Think of it as a “living” map of what is taught in our classrooms. It captures the big picture of your child’s learning journey—from the standards we aim to meet to the essential questions students explore.

Why do we use it?

We use Atlas to ensure that our curriculum is:

  • Aligned: We map every unit to state and national standards, ensuring our students are learning exactly what they need for success at the next level.
  • Consistent: Atlas helps us ensure that a student in one classroom receives the same high-quality instruction as a student in another classroom.
  • Connected: It allows teachers to see what students learned the year before and what they will need to know the year after, creating a seamless progression from grade to grade.

What does this mean for you?

By using Atlas, we are able to constantly review and improve what we teach. It allows us to identify gaps, eliminate redundancies, and ensure that our teaching methods evolve alongside our students’ needs.
