Puerto-Rican singer Edgar René plans to perform a thrilling concert on Apr. 9 in the auditorium from 10 A.M. to noon.
René’s songs will feature songs about the message of life and Puerto-Rican culture.
The purpose of this concert is to give Spanish learning students opportunities to practice their Spanish language skills and learn about Latin American culture all through René’s music and lyrics.
“Concert goers should expect to get excited about learning Spanish; sing, dance and enjoy themselves; and take risks by participating in games and dance tutorials on Edgar’s stage!” said Spanish Club adviser and Spanish teacher Mr. Alex Mazzante.
René will also perform traditional Puerto-Rican dances and play Spanish instruments that students will also be invited to learn and play.
Mrs. Andrea Tira, Spanish teacher and Key Club adviser, said she wanted to host René at our school after her and an ex-staff member attended one of his concerts.
Tira reached out to the Edgar Tour company to book the concert.
“Spanish teachers received literature about the tour company mailed to our school. We hosted a concert or two in years past, and decided to host another one this year,” said Mazzante.
Other schools are invited to attend, not just Montoursville students.
Tira said local school districts like Jersey Shore, Lewisburg, and Shikellamy plan to attend, making it approximately 900 students attending.
Anyone interested in attending the concert should see Mazzante for a permission slip.Permission slips are due back to Mazzante by Mar. 28 along with $17.00 admission fee.
René has been going to many schools doing the same activities during his school tour “Viviras 2018-2019.” The creator of the group René is a part of used to perform concerts just like this one.
