Academic Decathlon (by Sophia Perez)
Currently, members of Academic Decathlon are preparing for their first competition on Nov. 7th. This competition will have 10 events with 4 different parts: social science, art, literature, and essay. For students interested in Academic Decathlon they must know their literature. Students should also be aware that the decathlon isn’t just for prodigy students, it is a friendly competition for your level to have fun and gain experience. The work involved can be fun and another benefit is the free food + snacks provided. Interested students should go see Decathlon Advisor Mr. Mitch Hart or reach out through Gmail. Future plans include more competitions on Jan. 9th and Jan. 31st and also scheduled settings on Tuesdays.
Astronomy Club (by Allie Chapman)

Battle of the Books (by Nadia Farenish)
There are no upcoming activities for the Battle of the Books until December. Students should contact Battle of the Books adviser Mrs. Linda Keiser with questions.
Bible Study (by Nadia Farenish)
Bible Study meets every last FLEX day of the week unless it’s Day 6. Students interested should contact Bible Study Adviser Mrs. Terri Hill or the head of the club, senior Karleigh McKenna, with questions.
Book Club (by Nadia Farenish)
This month, the Book Club is reading Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney. The meeting date is still to be determined. For current members who read The Naturals by Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Barnes, a second meeting for the sequel, Killer Instinct, will be held this month. The date of this meeting is also to be determined. Members who wish to join the club should check in with Book Club Adviser Mrs. Linda Keiser to reserve a book copy.
Environmental Club (by Sophia Perez)
Currently, the Environmental Club’s members are participating in the Ho-Ho-Holiday Broad Street decorating contest. They are also actively gaining more members and have a scheduled meeting for next week. One thing to note for any students who are interested in joining this club is that there is a 5-hour participation requirement similar to the middle schools’ Builders Club. Students interested in joining must also have strong flexibility and communication. There are no fees to join the club and any interested student can reach out to Club Advisor Mr. Cody Pavlick through Gmail and/or Audrey Hess, President of the Environmental Club. Future plans of the club include raising butterflies to release at graduation, fundraisers, recycling projects, and community/elementary outreach to put on educational activities.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America (by Nevaeh Montoya)
FBLA has a meeting on Oct. 18th during flex. Dues should be turned in to Andrew Zhu or Mrs. Linda Keiser at the meeting. Members will also be signing up for competitive events.
FFA (Future Farmers of America) (by Marisa Witmer)
FFA is starting its fruit sale the week of 10/15 and will also be having a Chapter meeting that day. Anyone is welcome to join FFA whether or not you take an Agriculture class. You will have to complete a Supervised Agriculture if you are or want to be involved in FFA. In the future FFA plans to attend the Mid-Winter Convention at Farmshow, participate in conferences, and attend State Convention.
Homecoming Committee (by Marisa Witmer)
The Sophomore class homecoming committee is currently relaxing after all their hard work and a busy week of planning the homecoming float with a western theme that won second in the parade. Congratulations to everyone who helped create a very successful float. The committee is sending thank yous to everyone who helped.
International Thespian Honor Society (by Allie Chapman)
Induction will be held soon in the near future. The club will begin its annual calender sales next month.
Journalism a.k.a “The Arrowhead” (by Allie Chapman)
This club is posting new content everyday. Check for new stories on the website, and videos on its social media. There’s a meeting soon for the senior print issue. And on Oct. 24 the students are competing at the PSPA student journalism competition at Bloomsburg University.
Model UN (by Nadia Farenish)
There are no upcoming activities for Model UN. Contact Model UN advisers Mrs. Stacey Dangle or Mr. Jacob Wasilko with questions.
Mu Alpha Theta (by Marisa Witmer)
Currently, new Mu Alpha Theta members just found out if they were accepted into the Honors Society. The students who were recently accepted have dues of $10 and returning students have dues of $5. Dues are due and officer elections will occur during Flex at the meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Mu Alpha Theta is also seeking members to volunteer as tutors in Algebra 1 and Honors Algebra 2. Lastly, they are planning to go to a Mathematics Competition at Bloomsburg University on Tuesday, Nov. 19 that runs from 8:30 to 2 pm that day. This competition is accepting teams of 4 students. Mu Alpha Theta plans to bring 2 teams. There will be a Quiz Bowl, a Game of 24 pints, and Brain Teasers.
National Art Honor Society (by Nevaeh Montoya) NAHS members are creating Hype Posters for the Warrior Walk A Thon on Oct. 10th. Members are also finishing up painted pumpkins for the Library at the Valley. The pumpkins will be raffled off at the end of this month to students who did extra reading.
National English Honor Society (by Nevaeh Montoya)NEHS had a meeting on Oct. 8th, they discussed club points, and new club opportunities. Club dues are due ASAP returning members are $10 and new members are $15. NEHS has many new club point opportunities including basket raffle, North Carolina storm deviation donations, Book Club, Fright Club, Ho Ho Holiday Decorating Contest, and Jared Boxes. If you are interested in sharing any ideas please contact advisor Mrs. Alissa Martin.
National Honor Society (by Nevaeh Montoya) On Oct. 17th, NHS will induct 30 new students. NHS is still offering tutoring and study groups.

Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society) (by Marisa Witmer)
Rho Kappa is preparing to help with Lyter’s Veterans Day celebration in the high school auditorium and a Veterans Day celebration at the cemetery. Student workers will also be helping at voting polls on Nov. 5 for election day. A reminder to students who are involved in Rho Kappa to sign up for events to earn your 15 hours. In December Rho Kappa plans to help with Wreaths Across America. They also plan to sell army men to raise money for Veterans Day programs.
Science National Honor Society (by Nadia Farenish)
The Science National Honors Society will hold a new member induction ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in the MAHS cafeteria. The event is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided. The science wing has a whiteboard titled “Science Theme of the Month.” This month’s theme is “Why Leave Colors Change in the Fall.” A new theme will be chosen every month. Social Science Seminar (by Sophia Perez)
Currently, the Social Science Seminar is discussing articles on the presidential election and factors on electoral candidates and also other world events. Such as Hamas’s attack on Israel exactly one year ago. Anyone curious about the Seminar should visit seminar Advisor Mr. Richard DeLong in room 311 or email him about it. Articles are provided for people who are interested or who are currently in the club. The future of the seminar is to be determined based on events that take place in the future. One thing that is certain to be discussed is the presidential election after it is completed.
Spanish Honor Soc. – Andres Iduarte Chapter (by Allie Chapman)
They’re inducting 6 new members, and they handing out certificates on Oct. 18. November starts presentations which will depend on the club officer’s choices. All future meeting plans will be on advisor Sra. Andrea Tira’s board.
Student Government (by Allie Chapman)
Last week the club did a bake sale for the Hats for Heat Organization. Students are starting to plan school dress-up days for Battle of the Bride week. In November they’re working on a canned food drive, and in December they’re working on a teddy bear toss. If new students want to join see advisor Mr. Richard DeLong, and current students can go into the Google Classroom for projects and events.
Technology Student Association/TSA (by Marisa Witmer)
TSA is currently getting ready to compete in a coffin race in Berwick on Oct. 19. To compete students had to build their own cars to race. Students involved in TSA should be aware that they must put in work outside of school. All students compete in competitions anywhere from music production to problem-solving either in groups or individually. In the future TSA plans to compete in our regional and state-level competitions in February and April.

Warrior Custom Cut Club (by Nadia Farenish)
There are no activities for the Warrior Custom Cut Club this month. Students interested in joining should listen to the date of the first meeting on the morning announcements. Contact Warrior Custom Cut Club adviser Mr. Tyler Woolever with questions.
Yearbook, a.k.a. The ’Sock Staff (by Sophia Perez)
Currently, the Yearbook staff is working on picture makeup day, covering fall events, and discussing themes and designs for soon fall events. For a student interested in the Yearbook staff they would have to apply around January and see Staff Advisor Mrs. Cindy Wentzler or reach out to her through Gmail. Students interested, or already a part of the Yearbook staff should be aware that they need to take advantage of moments for photos in the yearbook. The plans of the Yearbook staff so far are just makeup day for pictures and moving forth with putting together the layout of fall events once decided.
