On Jan. 30, director Mr. Chris Morgan posted the announcement video for the MAHS Marching Warrior Band\u2019s 2026 show, \u201cWe Got The Band!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Many people, both in- and outside of the band, anticipate the Marching Warriors\u2019 shows every year; there was much excitement surrounding this show\u2019s reveal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI’m really excited for this year’s show!\u201d said upcoming sophomore colorguard member, Reagan Greene. \u201cI think the music is going to be really fun and the colorguard choreography is going to be super cool too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Rising senior Catherine Hittle claimed she is \u201cabsolutely thrilled\u201d about next year\u2019s show, adding that she is most excited about the music being \u201clow-brass heavy,\u201d since Hittle plays the trombone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe Got The Band\u201d is a ladies-of-the-80\u2019s themed show, including the following songs: \u201cProud Mary,\u201d \u201cHolding Out for a Hero,\u201d \u201cHit Me With Your Best Shot,\u201d and the song which inspired the show\u2019s name, \u201cWe Got the Beat.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy favorite song will be \u2018We Got the Beat\u2019 because it is a very well-known song and because it will be the last song of the show that I will be conducting so it will be my last memory of being a drum major,\u201d said upcoming senior drum major, Kaitlyn Dougherty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon prompting a handful of marching band members, there seemed to be a two-way tie between \u201cHit Me With Your Best Shot\u201d and \u201cHolding Out for a Hero\u201d for what students deemed to be their favorite song of the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

Current sophomore Estella Smelko admitted that the reason she was most looking forward to playing \u201cHolding Out for a Hero\u201d was because it\u2019s played in “Shrek 2”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only are a majority of the band members excited about the music in \u201cWe Got The Band,\u201d but they are also excited to simply get back out onto the field with their friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to be with my friends and to play the show!\u201d said upcoming senior and percussionist, Paige Rosenbaum. \u201cI\u2019m also sad because it will be my last show!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Marching Warrior Band is open to all 8th-12th grade band students, and they\u2019re always in need of a handful of student \u201cband managers\u201d to help out at the football games. \u201cBand managers\u201d don\u2019t have to be involved in the music program to help!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[People] should definitely join, it’s a lot of fun!\u201d said soon-to-be senior band member and football player, Ethan Voyten.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dougherty gave prospective marching band members some advice: \u201cYou should at least try it; you never know what is going to happen. It is better to try and fail than never try at all and regret it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPDATE ON MAHS MUSIC DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The MAHS Music Department fundraiser is still continuing. If anyone or their business is interested in donating or becoming a formal sponsor, there is still time to get involved! You can donate online HERE:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, the program has only raised <\/span>$14,238<\/b> out of $60,000. A generous donor offered to match every dollar donated up to $30,000, but the program still needs help to unlock the full $30,000 match. Please consider donating!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that supporting the arts is incredibly important to the survival of our school community! The band gives us energy, and hope, and joy, and excitement, and nothing would be the same without it. We’ve done so much for the community, and I hope that they can also contribute to keeping the department up-and-running,\u201d<\/span><\/i> said Hittle.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
