Don\u2019t worry though &#8211; this show will still be tons of fun!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">The show will take place on March 20-22, but there\u2019s a lot of work to be done before the production is ready for the stage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">The first step in the process is auditions. These were held on November 4-6. Each day tests the actors\u2019 different skills.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Day one is monologues and choreography. Auditionees must memorize and perform a paragraph called a monologue to perform for the director. They must also learn part of a dance from the choreographer and perform that as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Day two is all singing! Actors showcase their vocal talent by performing a song chosen out of two or three options listed in the audition packet. They learn (and preferably memorize) the song, and are called into the audition room one at a time to sing it with piano accompaniment. The whole group of auditionees also sings an ensemble section to gauge how they sound together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Day three is callbacks. Not everyone has to attend this day &#8211; only those who the production team would like to see again. It\u2019s great if you get a callback, but not getting one doesn\u2019t mean you didn\u2019t get a role! It all depends where the puzzle pieces fit together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Learning this amount of material to have ready to perform for this three-day period is a lot of work, and can be nerve-racking!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">\u201cI was feeling really excited for the first night of auditions\u2026because I love to dance,\u201d said senior Alice Ravert, who auditioned for Morticia Addams. \u201cI was feeling nervous for the second and third nights because I lost my voice and couldn\u2019t sing like I usually do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8583\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8583\" style=\"width: 502px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8583\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montoursville.k12.pa.us\/thearrowhead\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/01\/IMG_9803.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"653\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.montoursville.k12.pa.us\/thearrowhead\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/01\/IMG_9803.jpeg 702w, https:\/\/www.montoursville.k12.pa.us\/thearrowhead\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/01\/IMG_9803-230x300.jpeg 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 502px) 100vw, 502px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8583\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">The cast list is published and everyone is excited to start the school\u2019s rendition of this musical. &#8220;The Addams Family&#8221; musical is a twist on the original Addams Family cartoons originally published in The New Yorker. Photo from the Theatre Department<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Hurdles like losing your voice before an audition are common for singers, but this doesn\u2019t stop their passion! Each auditionee didn\u2019t let nerves and obstacles stop them and they each noted a favorite memory from audition night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Junior Kristen Dinges, auditioning for Wednesday Addams, said, \u201cSeeing all my friends and hyping people up before they auditioned\u201d was her favorite part.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">If the cast is making memories now, there\u2019s definitely more to come!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Junior Carter Hepburn, who auditioned for Mal Beineke, said that he\u2019s looking forward to \u201chaving a good time, and get[ting] to know everybody a lot better.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">Freshman Kassidy Foster has a similar take on this. She is eager to start rehearsals, and she said \u201chaving fun with friends and enjoying the experience\u201d is what she\u2019s most excited for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">The musical definitely offers amazing opportunities for students! Even though the audition process may seem scary, those who have auditioned before say it\u2019s not as scary as one might think.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\">\u201cThere\u2019s no harm in trying out,\u201d said freshman Reagan Greene. \u201cThe scary part only lasts a few minutes for something so fun\u201d!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;\"><em><strong>Featured <\/strong><\/em><em><strong>photo (at top): <\/strong><\/em><em><strong>MAHS\u2019s Theatre De<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>partment is putting on &#8220;The Addams Family&#8221; as its spring musical this year.
