Photo by Linda Sanger<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\">The Laurel Festival is a long-celebrated tradition in Wellsboro, typically held in June. At the end of each school year teachers nominate a junior to represent their schools. This year&#8217;s celebration took place on the week of June 14-22.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt\">\u201cI didn\u2019t expect it. I had never done anything like it, I was just myself and answered the judge\u2019s questions,\u201d said Ravert when asked about her experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 12pt\">Ravert was referencing the questions judges ask during the coronation ceremony, during which ten candidates were chosen to answer a random question in front of an audience. Judges then selected the top three, and the previous year\u2019s queen crowned the upcoming queen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\">The other activities that took place included an introduction at the town square festival, a tour of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, a parade, and a coronation ceremony.
