The moment Mrs. Cindy Wentzler watched the then new Hunger Games movie in 2012, she envisioned the perfect idea to raise funds for her club that was in dire need of funding.<\/p>\n

For the 14th year, students were able to sign themselves up as tributes or pay one dollar to be a viewer of the Hunger Games Dodgeball, as the contestants engaged in a dodgeball battle that mimicked the premise of the famous book and movie series.<\/p>\n

Originally, the game was invented in order to support the Yearbook program. It now raises money to pay for the English Department Award, which is given to a student who shows excellence in the field.<\/p>\n

Although according to Wentzler, there have been some years where not enough students signed up, this year, over fifty did.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The participants\u2019] behavior is interesting to watch. There\u2019s traps, there\u2019s betrayals, and the crowd, just like\u00a0 in the actual Hunger Games,\u201d said Wentzler.<\/p>\n
