The tournament was two days long, beginning Dec. 29, and concluding Dec. 30.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first year that all of the athletes competed in this tournament, and the team claimed first place. Junior Elsa Kehrer was awarded the Sportsmanship Award, and sophomore Marleigh Bainbridge received the All Tournament Players Award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy favorite game out of the whole tournament was against Midd-West because we beat them so well, and I just played well in that game,\u201d said Kehrer. Kehrer has played basketball for five years, and she is a center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMontgomery was my favorite because our team was scoring a lot of points and communication was good with each other and we were all hype,\u201d said freshman Jenna DeSanto. Photo provided by senior Lillian McCulloch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe chose to compete in this tournament to get the wins we got under our belts knowing we had many hard games this season,\u201d explained Bainbridge. Bainbridge has played basketball since she was five years old, and is predominantly a shooting guard, but she also plays point guard.<\/p>\n<p>Each player noted which game they thought was the most challenging for them as a team, and they also noted the strengths the team maintained throughout this tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMidd-West was probably the most challenging out of the teams because they had good team chemistry and were scoring a bunch,\u201d said DeSanto, while Keher said, \u201cThe game that was the most challenging was against Meadowbrook Christian because I just didn&#8217;t play as well as I did in the other game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeSanto\u2019s said her favorite memory from the tournament was winning a shootout during one of their games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team&#8217;s strengths during the tournament were working well on offense together and playing with each other,&#8221; said Bainbridge. &#8220;Our weaknesses were letting them score easy baskets that should not have been scored.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Feature Photo (at top): Senior Emily George prepares to shoot a foul shot.
