The students bustle into the school, getting ready for another long day filled with classes and assignments. Except the students need one thing to last through-out the day – food.
This wouldn’t be possible without the cafeteria staff and Kitchen Manager, Kelsey Snook.
Snook is from Williamsport, however she moved to Montoursville and has been living here for a total of 11 years.
“I had my third kid, my kids are also very active, and I wanted a job close to them,” said Snook.
Snook started her job here at the high school eight years ago, but she has been the Kitchen Manager for three years.
“I really love the hours here,” said Snook.“I love how I get to work and do something I love and still have time to be a mom.”
Snook’s job as Kitchen Manager can vary based on what she does day-to-day. Sometimes she can be working the cash register while other times she can be serving food, or even working in the kitchens. Yet, Snook’s most important job is making sure everyone is on task and that everything is running smoothly.
“I am the glue that keeps us together, and I make sure everyone is on task,” said Snook. “We have to make sure that we are one team.”
To start off her day, Snook arrives at the school around 7 each morning. Her first job is to start getting ready to serve the students breakfast. She also checks the machinery, such as checking the temperature and making sure everything is running smoothly.
“My main job is orders, like truck orders and taking care of production records,” said Snook.
Then after breakfast, Snook and the rest of the cafeteria workers start to get ready to serve lunch and then after lunch, clean up. Snook’s days as a kitchen manager can be rather busy, but rewarding.
“For the most part I love my days working here, but sometimes the kids can get overwhelming and annoying,” said Snook.
Snook’s days are also filled with working with her co-workers, one of them being head cook, Elizabeth Paternastro.
“[Snook] makes the day fun, and makes it fun to come into work,”said Paternastro, when asked about what it’s like to work with Snook.
However, Snook isn’t just the kitchen manager, she also has an eventful life outside of her job and working at the school.

“Outside of school, I enjoy going to concerts and sporting events,”said Snook. “I also like getting outside, but nothing too adventurous.”
Snook is a proud mother as well, and enjoys spending time with her kids.
“I love the “mom part” of my job, and how I still have time to spend with[my kids],” said Snook. “Other than that I like to do nothing and just relax after a long day.”
Without Kelsey Snook and the cafeteria workers, the students wouldn’t be able to eat and get free lunches. As well as, have a clean cafeteria to eat in.
“I appreciate that they make our food taste good, and how they clean up after us,”said Sydney Confer, freshman. “Which I imagine is difficult.”
