Senior Alice Ravert was nominated, and became 2025 Laurel Festival queen.

The Laurel Festival is a long-celebrated tradition in Wellsboro, typically held in June. At the end of each school year teachers nominate a junior to represent their schools. This year’s celebration took place on the week of June 14-22.
“I didn’t expect it. I had never done anything like it, I was just myself and answered the judge’s questions,” said Ravert when asked about her experience.
Ravert was referencing the questions judges ask during the coronation ceremony, during which ten candidates were chosen to answer a random question in front of an audience. Judges then selected the top three, and the previous year’s queen crowned the upcoming queen.
The other activities that took place included an introduction at the town square festival, a tour of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, a parade, and a coronation ceremony. Contestants were judged during the introduction, and during the parade for their waves.

In December, Ravert returned as an ambassador for Wellsboro for the tree lighting ceremony. In June, she will be in charge of crowning a new queen for the 2026 Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival.
