September Athletes of the Month

Each month, the coaches from the selected athletic teams choose a senior they strongly believe is their athlete of the month. The qualities a coach looks for in this decision are leadership, hard work, good sportsmanship, and one that gives their best effort every day. Christian Banks is representing the football team, and Lindsay Garber is representing the cheer squad this month.

Cheer: Lindsay Garber

Q: Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?

A: “I use the same hair tie no matter what hairstyle I do for a game, because I think it’s bad luck if I change it.”

Q: What is your favorite song to listen to on away-game bus rides?

A: “I always listen to Sabrina Carpenter on the bus ride to away games, but my favorite song is ‘Feather’.”

Q: What is your favorite pre-game snack and or drink?

A: “My favorite pre-game snack is Emilia’s grandmother’s homemade chocolate covered pretzels, and I always make sure to have a Liquid I.V. before a game.”

Q: What is your favorite motivational quote?

A: “‘You must always have faith in people, and most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself.’” -Elle Woods

Q: What advice would you give to younger players?

A: “Always put 100 percent effort into everything you do, but still make sure you are having FUN!”

Q: Which college are you looking to attend and what is your current major of interest?

A: “As of right now, I am looking at getting my bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Special Education and then my master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, with the goal of becoming an elementary school speech therapist.”

Q: How many years have you cheered?

A: “This is actually my first year on the Montoursville cheerleading team! After having to medically retire from competitive gymnastics, I was super nervous to try out for the squad but it was the best decision of my life!”

Q: How many hours of sleep do you try and get the night before your game? 

A: “I always try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep the night before a game.”

Q: Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?

A: “For pregame I play catch with Hayden Harvey and then we both usually pray.”

Q: What is your favorite song to listen to on away-game bus rides?

A: “My favorite pregame song is ‘Turks by NAV’.”

Q: What is your favorite pre-game snack and or drink?

A: “I don’t eat anything before games but I will have a red or blue Gatorade.”

Q: What is your favorite motivational quote?

A: “Work hard, play hard.”- Wiz Khalifa

Q: What advice would you give to younger players?

A: “Play every ball like it’s your last because it might be.”

Q: Which college are you looking to attend and what is your current major of interest?

A: “Possibly Lock Haven for Physical Education.”

Q: How many years have you played football?

A: “I’ve played for 13 years. ”

Q: How many hours of sleep do you try and get the night before your game? 

A: “I sleep for about 7-8 hours the night before.”
