Each month the faculty chooses two students who are high-achieving students with passion in their arts to represent their departments as the Artist of the Month. This month junior Ethan Voyten and freshman Regan Greene represent both marching band and color guard.
Ethan Voyten (Junior) – Marching Band
Q: What is your favorite part about being in the marching band?
A: “Being able to perform in front of a full stadium of people.”
Q: What is your favorite memory from marching band?
A: “When we got the show all the way done [during Band Camp] and we started playing music. That was the best thing ever because we were halfway done.”
Q: What instrument(s) do you play in marching band, and why?
A: “I play the sousaphone; it’s the bigger version of a tuba. I play the sousaphone because I love being able to play as loud as I can in front of people.”
Q: How do you manage being both a football player and a member of marching band?
A: “I manage to have time for both things by trying to remember what I have to do that is important for each thing.”
Q: What would you say to someone who is planning on joining the marching band next year?
A: “I would tell them that they should definitely join because it’s a lot of fun to play in front of a ton of people. Also, they will be able to make new friends in marching band.”
Q: Do you plan to continue playing your instrument after high school?
A: “Probably not because the job that I’m thinking of going for won’t be dealing with music.”

Reagan Greene (Freshman) – Colorguard
Q: What is your favorite part about being in colorguard?
A: “My favorite part about being in colorguard is being in the stands during the games. I love talking and dancing to the songs.”
Q: What is your favorite colorguard/marching band memory?
A: “My favorite colorguard memory is probably getting to do [“Land of 1000 Dances”] after the games and do the dance with all the girls and the cheerleaders.”
Q: Why did you choose to be a part of the colorguard?
A: “I heard about colorguard from my cousin and heard about tryouts. I tried it and ended up really liking it.”
Q: What would your advice be to someone who is looking to join colorguard next year?
A: “My advice would be to have fun with it, but still put in the work. Everything about it is so fun if you practice and try enough so that it can be easy and fun.”
Q: What is your favorite moment to perform from this year’s show?
A: “My favorite moment to perform is the end of ‘Great Balls of Fire.’ I love the end moves and the little pose we get to do at the end.”
