Another amazing football game kicked off at Memorial Stadium, where Montoursville eked out a close victory against Danville, 33-21, a score not impactful in points, but in meaning. Danville has beaten Montoursville for the last five years until last Friday, Sept. 5.
The Warriors definitely brought their A-game, making multiple amazing plays that aren’t often seen in High school football.
One such example was the 95-yard touchdown by sophomore Brayden Burkett, made after receiving a kick from Danville after they had scored. Burkett stumbled through defenders, but eventually broke through and flew down the field, scoring a touchdown.
Another great example of some amazing football was a safety awarded to Montoursville around the second quarter, after the Warrior’s defense was able to push Danville’s offense into their own end zone.
But the game wasn’t always a clear Montoursville win. During the third quarter, the score was extremely close, only one touchdown could shift the entire game. I interviewed Ryan Camp, the Montoursville Warrior band’s resident football enthusiast.
The interview went as follows.
Q: What would you say about the game so far?
A: So far the defensive play has been good, there’s been a lot of good and bad plays. Danville has been pretty competitive so far.
Q: What do you have to say about the safety awarded to Montoursville?
A: This, honestly, isn’t really a thing that happens a lot, especially against a team like Danville.
Q: Do you have anything to say about the amount of flagged plays? I noticed there’s been a lot.
A: There’s definitely been a lot, [The Warriors] have been rough on that. There’s been unsportsmanlike conduct, some pass interference, we need to be a tad bit nicer.
Q: How should Montoursville approach the rest of the game?
A: They should go aggressive, Extend their lead. They definitely should keep doing what they’re doing. Establish the run game.
And this strategy worked out for Montoursville, with numerous successful running plays in the latter half of the game that evaded the Danville defense to gain crucial yards in the closest parts of the game.
In all, It was another wonderful performance from the Montoursville Warriors, putting their record to 3-0, and extending the unbeaten streak. It was also one personally of the most entertaining games of football I’ve ever seen, and this article doesn’t quite do it justice.

And now, the fries: a review The fries at our home stadium have definitely improved since last year. During the 2023-2024 season the fries were disappointing to say the least. They were soggy, flavorless, and lacking salt. This year however, I was presently surprised. They were very well salted, as well as greasy, but not to the point where it’s bad, and they were soft in the way you want fries to be. Unfortunately if you didn’t get fries with enough salt there was a lot left to be desired, but I wouldn’t advise only eating these fries with a sauce. 7.5/10 |
