Montoursville girls’ soccer competes in indoor league

Have you ever wondered what girls’ soccer athletes do in the offseason?

Some go to the gym, some play basketball, and some continue playing soccer with indoor soccer. Thirteen students are competing in the indoor soccer league located at Liberty Arena in Williamsport.

Many wonder why these athletes would want to continue playing soccer.

“I play indoor because it’s like an award for working hard all season and it’s a fun way to spend time with friends while improving skills,” said sophomore Becca Teffeteller who is one of the defenders who plays with the Montoursville girls.

The team is a mix of four seniors, four juniors, four sophomores, and one freshman, which keeps the dynamic positive and fun. The team is always laughing with or at each other, but simultaneously, it is confident, serious, and always ready to dominate.

“I hope that we make the playoffs and place in the top three in the league,” said senior Paige Boyle when asked what the team’s goal is. Currently, the team is in third place with two regular games left.

The team doesn’t have a coach, but instead has Elyse Boyle and Rowan Fortin. These two girls are both injured and show up to support the team by adding input on improvements and what the team is doing well. Elyse doesn’t call herself a coach but is there as support, always ready to help in every way possible.

“The dynamic is positive and fun,” senior Madalynn Metzger said. The team is always having a great time and is looking forward to the end of the season coming fast.
