Students Andrew Zhu, Brady Cohen, Evelyn Weng, Sean Frey, Naomi Zeigler, Walker Wood, and Giovanni Catino attended this event.

“There are two competitions a year, one in November and one in March,” said Mu Alpha Theta club adviser Mrs. Mary Ann Kilpatrick.

Members from the club were divided into two teams and competed among 200+ other high school students in brainteasers, a quiz bowl, and the card game ’24’.

“I think we did better than what I had originally hoped. I’m happy with the results,” said senior Naomi Ziegler.

The three competitions students participated in varied in difficulty and drew from knowledge in geometry, trigonometry, algebra, statistics, and logic.

“I learned a lot during this competition, and it was a really fun experience,” said junior Evelyn Weng.

Mu Alpha Theta placed 5th out of 46 teams in the quiz bowl and tied for 6th in brain teasers.

Kilpatrick explained how students prepared for the competition.

“Kids needed to practice and prepare on their own time, and there was preparation in the 1st meeting along with links I sent out,” she said. “The kids had fun, and I recommend participating to others!”
