Warriors host Battle of the Bridge and Senior Nights

Drivers crossing the green bridge over the Loyalsock Creek now will see the Loyalsock Lancer’s school  colors – maroon and white –  because they won the Battle of the Bridge.

On Oct. 25 The Battle of the Bridge, an annual rivalry game, was played between the Montoursville Warriors and the Loyalsock Lancers. Loyalsock won the game with a final score of 21-7.

“They didn’t play well. They made too many mistakes. They need to play better,” said Warriors’ head coach Mr. Joe Hannah.

The first quarter started fast with sacks, flags, and two touchdowns by the Lancers to put Loyalscok ahead 14-0. The game continued the second quarter with two flags, but no points were scored between the two teams keeping the score 14-0.

After halftime the third quarter began and nothing much happened, but Montoursville did score a touchdown to make the score 14-7. But when the fourth and final quarter of the game started, the Loyalsock Lancers came out strong and scored a touchdown. The game ended as a 21-7 loss for the Warriors.

The game was filled with emotion and enthusiasm. The energy in the student section matched the energy on the field.

No matter what the score was in the game both fans’ sides cheered loudly and heavily throughout the match.

Both sides brought signs reading: “Our Home, Our Win, Our Bridge” or “Winners never Lose.”

The game was also the same night as the Pink Out. Students wore shades of pink to show their support for the fight against breast cancer.

Before the game Montoursville hosted its 2024 Senior Night. All of the senior football players, cheerleaders, and band and colorguard members walked out with their families and got recognized for what they are doing next with their life after they graduate in June.

Some of the seniors included Nicco DeSanto and Landon Morehart.

“It was an emotional game and an emotional night,” said DeSanto.

“Senior night was very emotional. It was a hard loss but I’m glad that I got to play  with my team one more time,” Morehart said. “Senior night was fun, but it was a tough game. The team could’ve played better. The night was very emotional and it was fun still even though we lost.”
