It is the most wonderful time of the year! To any kids reading this article, get excited! There are only a few more days until Christmas! Also if your list is looking a little bare, or if you are realizing now that you forgot to ever make your list, or if you still need to get something for your parents, this list is perfect for you. To any parents reading this article, pay attention! These are the top trending gifts that kids want this year, so if you need some extra ideas, this is the place to be. These will all be split into categories: Kids, Teens, and Adults, and there will be five gift ideas in each. Also, they are in no particular order in each category, this is just a simple list of ideas for anyone to use. Enjoy! |
Kids
- Moon Lamp – LED lights are insanely popular right now, and these moon lamps are similar but have a more chill vibe. They are good for any kids who like to play video games because they can set them on their desks. They are good for any kids who actually have the classic LED lights around their room because they can match the color of the moon to their lights (Yes there is even a remote so you can control the colors of it!), and they are good for any kids who just need stuff to go on shelves in their rooms. There are many different variations of these lamps, all over different websites. Some have built in speakers, some have more color options than others, and some have little wooden stands and things like that!
- Mini Claw Machine – Whether it is walking into a restaurant, coming out of a store, or at a carnival or arcade, I can almost guarantee that kids look up at their parents with longing eyes begging for 50 cents to play the claw machine. I mean, my brothers are 18 and 13 and they are still obsessed with them for God’s sake. These ones in particular are super cool though, because you can put whatever you want into them, anything from rubber ducks, to candy, to jewelry, anything that can fit through the cap at the top/bottom (depends on the store). There is music, awesome lights, and some even start with toys in them ready for playing the second the kids open them up!
- Slime Kits – Slime was a big thing a few years ago, and it is definitely making a comeback. It can be neon, sparkly, pastel, crunchy, and there are plenty of good deals on these kits at places with Arts and Crafts sections like Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Target, and of course Amazon.
- Smart Safe Box Piggy Bank – Now before you say that this is boring and no kid would be excited for this on Christmas, let me try to convince you otherwise. They can come in any color, they come with stickers and markers to personalize them, it plays music, and the kid gets to make their own password so that they can feel important and top secret. It is fun for the kid, and also teaches them how to be responsible with their money and remembering their passwords, codes, etc. But we should be real here, it is probably best if they write it down or tell a parent too because, well, it is pretty self explanatory.
- Mad Libs Books – If you want a screen-free car ride, then Mad Libs is the way to go! In fact, my family does them for fun even when we are at the beach or just sitting at home having a game night too! It is a silly fill in the blank game, where one person sees the story and the corresponding blanks throughout it. The blanks each have a word underneath: Adjective, Noun, Verb, Adverb, Sound, Name, etc. And as the people go around the circle saying the first thing that comes to mind to fit in each of those blanks, the story writes itself. At the end, you get to read it and it never really makes any sense, but that is the best part! It is quick and easy, and never fails to get some laughs going!
Teens
- Karaoke machine – No sleepover is complete without a karaoke party! There are plenty of these on Amazon, Target, Walmart, and they come in so many colors and patterns. There are some that light up, there are some that connect to your TV, and there are some that are even travel sized so you could easily pack it away to take with you on a trip.
- Instant Camera – Yes, you can just take pictures on your phone, but these are so much more fun! It makes such a fun group activity to go out with your friends and have a photoshoot with one of these cameras. When the pictures are taken, you just shake the picture, wait for it to develop, and then, voila, you have photos that you can string across your door or hang on a bulletin board or add them to your phone case or whatever floats your boat.
- Lego Flowers – You may be thinking, shouldn’t these be back in the kids category? But you have to hear me out, okay? Legos are great and all but I just never really enjoyed them as a kid. I never enjoyed to sit down and focus on directions and building. Now I know that there are a lot more kids now that would totally be willing to do that, and if so, then that is great and they are better than I ever was! However, why I have this specifically in the teen category is because as you get older and you get boyfriends and girlfriends, you go out on dates and you buy each other things, and we all know how that works. Buying each other Lego flowers and getting to build them together and then put them in a cute vase has become a huge trend this past year, so it could not not make this list.
- Apple Watch/FitBit – I personally love my Apple Watch that I got for my birthday this past year. It can do everything that a phone can but it is on you at all times! There is Siri, there are games, you can call and text, you can track your heart rate when you go for runs, and of course there is all of the fun customizations available like the color of the watch and the neat bands and stuff you can add too. It is such a practical gift, but most importantly, it is still fun! That is why I think I can speak for any teen, that they would be grateful to see this item under the tree on Christmas morning!
- Amazon Alexa – Similar to the Siri feature that you have on your phone, Alexa can do SO many things ranging from telling you the weather for the week, playing music, setting alarms, making phone calls, and even control the lighting inside and outside of your home! These are a game changer for teens to have in their room because instead of yelling out to mom every five minutes because they need something, there is a good chance that Alexa could answer the question and save everyone some time.
Adults
- Acrylic LED Picture Frame – This is such a heartfelt gift that anyone can give to their parents or grandparents. It is customizable, so you can choose the picture(s) that will be featured, choose the song that plays, change the lighting installed, and so much more. It is especially perfect for families that do not get to see each other often, because some of them you can even upload new pictures of the family with just a button on your phone!
- New Towels/Washcloths – These are things that are almost always overlooked when it comes to gift-giving season. Everybody always thinks of the electronics and the gift cards but nobody ever really considers just a clean set of bath towels, a bath mat, some washcloths, or hand towels. Literally any of these things could make a mom jump for joy. Trust me, my own mother told me herself so please consider these! 🙂
- Family Tree – There are so many different apps and websites now that let you go back through your family tree and learn the history of it. But even better than that, you can get it framed to give to your parents and/or grandparents! There are shadow box options, and electronic ones that can go on computers and phones, but in my opinion the most special ones are the ones that are in a frame and can be hung in the family room. It is a special reminder of the family that you love, of loved ones that unfortunately are not with us anymore, and the important ones throughout the family tree that have shaped the family entirely. It is such a fun conversation starter that will have the grandparents talking for hours, and the kids never wanting them to stop!
- Tile by Life360 – Now even though it is great to always have to hear “Where is my phone?” and “Has anyone seen the car keys?”, well…it is not. Luckily there is the Tile by Life360! You can set it up so it pairs to your phone, keys, wallet, etc. No more scavenger hunts around the house for your phone just to find out that it was in your pocket the whole time, because with just the click of a button (or the press of a Tile), the crisis can be averted!
- Roomba Vacuum Cleaner – Raise your hand if you enjoy vacuuming…oh look, nobody! The Roomba is the perfect solution to our hatred for vacuuming. There are no cords to get tangled up, and you only have to clean it about once a month. Do not worry about charging either, once it is done its sweep around your house, it takes itself back to its port to charge back up before the next use.
I hope you found this list useful in some way, or at least somewhat enjoyable to read through all the trends happening this Christmas season. Thanks for taking A Look Around with Lindsay! |
