Academic Decathlon (by Sophia Perez)
Currently, Academic Decathlon is preparing for their meet/competition on Jan 9th. There are four parts to the competition: mathematics, economics, music, and science. They currently are enjoying snacks in Mr Hart’s room. They are also preparing for their meet on Jan. 31st and possibly participating in the Broad Street Ho-Ho-Holiday Decorating Contest. Interested students should see Mr. Hart soon before it’s too late.
Astronomy Club (by Allie Chapman)
On Nov. 21st the club is going to Loyalsock Valley Elementary School from 8-9 PM. Those who want to join go see advisor Mrs. Natalie Smith for a permission slip due at the end of the day on Nov. 20th. (Note: wait until the trip gets approved.)

Bible Study meets every last FLEX day of the week unless it’s Day 6. Students interested should contact Bible Study Adviser Mrs. Terri Hill or the head of the club, senior Karleigh McKenna, with questions.

The club’s propositions are due Dec. 5 and the club’s field trip is Dec. 13.
Environmental Club (by Sophia Perez)
The Environmental Club is currently collaborating with the forester and manager of Rider Park and they are participating in the Broad Street door decorating contest. In the future, they will continue its collaboration with Rider Park, future fundraisers, repurposing plastic, and a possible mock Envirothon. For more info on joining the club, interested students can also contact junior Kingston Fisher.
FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America (by Nevaeh Montoya)
FBLA has multiple competitive events this month. Objective tests will be taken on Thursday, Dec. 12th in the Library Computer Lab. “Members can come in to study in the library during periods 1, 2, 4, 8, and 9,” said advisor Mrs. Linda Keiser. Friday, Nov. 15th there will be a meeting held to confirm events and answer any questions you may have.
FFA (Future Farmers of America) (by Marisa Witmer)
FFA is currently finishing up its fruit sale and jacket campaign. FFA does many competitions and conferences and is an amazing opportunity for high school students. They plan to attend the Mid-Winter FFA Convention during the Farm show in Harrisburg and the ACES conference in February.
Game Club (by Ben Gotshall)
The club is meeting every Thursday from 3:20 to 4:15 in the LGI Room across from the auditorium with advisor Miss Hannah Ostrander. It has card games, board games, and Nintendo games. It also has free snacks. Students don’t need to sign up you can just arrive there. The club is planning on having a chess tournament soon.

Key Club (by Sophia Perez)
The Key Club is currently collecting a load of hygiene products for Daniel’s Closet. They are also getting ready for the Harvest of Hope and the Lyter PTO meeting. Plans for now include holiday projects. Anyone interested should be aware that there is a 50-hour participation requirement. Interested students should also know Key Club is a fun experience where you can learn new things and meet tons of new people.

The club got its case materials on Nov. 14. People in the club are to study their materials from the Pennsylvania Bar. The club is looking forward to compete at Pitt University.

Mu Alpha Theta (by Marisa Witmer)
Mu Alpha Theta is preparing to compete at a mathematics competition in Bloomsburg on Nov. 19. They have two teams for a three-part competition. The parts of the competition are a Quiz bowl, brain teasers, and a game of 24. The club recently elected the officers and is continuing to tutor students. Mu Alpha Theta will be parping for another mathematics competition in March after the one on Nov. 19. They also will have their annual pie day sale in March.
National Art Honor Society (by Nevaeh Montoya)
NAHS is currently working to create holiday cards and ornaments to sell at the MAHS Craft Show on Dec. 7th as MHS. Club members can help with the Art of Giving Back project. They will be choosing a person or local business that they appreciate and create artwork for them.
National English Honor Society (by Aubrey Slagus)
The National English Society is currently working to create Jared Boxes. They are small boxes that have toys and things to do to donate to hospitals. They have an organization that started in State College after a young boy passed away. This club wants to keep it going and send these to many different hospitals. They will also be visiting with residents at the Williamsport Home during Thanksgiving. NEHS is encouraging students to participate in things like; decorating doors on Broad Street, fundraisers, and more.

NHS will be holding a service fair at the next upcoming November meeting.

The Prom Committee will not be meeting again till after Christmas break.
Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society) (by Marisa Witmer)
Currently, new members are being inducted on Nov. 21, 2024 at 7:40 am. Members also participated in the Veterans Day ceremony at the cemetery on 11/11. Members should know that breakfast is included at the induction on 11/21 and submit their hours to Secretary senior Allison Witter. In the future, Rho Kappa will be planning events for members to earn hours.

Spanish Club (by Ben Gotshall)
Spanish Club students receive locker magnets at its November meeting. They will learn about the monarch butterfly’s migration to Mexico, which curiously coincides with the Mexican Day of the Dead holiday. Each student will create a monarch butterfly craft and decorate it. Butterflies will be displayed at a location TBA.
Spanish Honor Soc. – Andres Iduarte Chapter (by Allie Chapman)
There will be a meeting held tomorrow, Nov. 15th, with three of their members doing a presentation. Two of their members will be presenting about Las Fallas, which is a celebration held in Spain. The other person will be presenting about Carnaval, which is a celebration held in Ecuador. After this, their next meeting will be on Dec. 11.

Currently, TSA members are working on their competition events or waiting for prompts to be released to work on their events. Students should be aware that they need to work some on their own time for the events they choose. In the future TSA will be participating in its regional competition in Feb. of 2025.

Yearbook, a.k.a. The ’Sock Staff (by Sophia Perez)
Currently, the Yearbook staff is starting layouts for the 2024-2025 yearbook. The theme for the cover is Making Change, which is a pun for the upcoming year 2025. The plans are to start covering sporting events, people pages, and just keeping up with future activities. More information on joining the staff will be announced in January for interested students.
