Battle of the Books (by Nadia Farenish)
There are no upcoming activities for the Battle of the Books until December. Students should contact Battle of the Books adviser Mrs. Linda Keiser with questions.
Book Club (by Nadia Farenish)
The Book Club is reading The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes this month. The meeting will occur in the last week of September. Students interested should ask Book Club adviser Mrs. Linda Keiser in the library to reserve a copy of the book by Sept. 16.
CON-CON (by Ben Gotshall)
The club is not currently doing anything right now. For this competition, students will pretend to be a state at the constitutional convention. While representing that state, students will try to get what other students want and not allow other “states” to get what they want. FBLA – Future Business Leaders of America (by Nevaeh Montoya)
To start off the school year, FBLA has a lot of information and opportunities to look forward to. According to FBLA adviser Mrs. Linda Keiser, the dues are $20 for the club membership. It is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational association of student members preparing for careers in business. Members learn how to engage in business enterprise, how to direct the affairs of a group, and how to compete honorably in competitive events. At FBLA’s next meeting, they will be collecting dues and starting a fundraiser. The upcoming fundraiser will be Gertrude Hawk Candy Bars and Christmas Ornaments.
FFA (Future Farmers of America) (by Marisa Witmer)
FFA is currently planning to have Friday fruit sales and a career development event. The adviser Mr. Noah Phillips said that any student is welcome to join and the club does multiple fun things like competitions and conventions. It plans to attend the state convention in June, the LLC conference, career development events, and a mid-winter convention at a farm in January. It has also planned a modified Agriculture Day at the high school this year for elementary students to attend.
Game Club (by Ben Gotshall)
The club is meeting every Thursday from 3:20 to 4:15 in the LGI Room across from the auditorium with adviser Miss Hannah Ostrander. It has card games, board games, and Nintendo games. It also has free snacks. Students don’t need to sign up, they can just arrive there.
Homecoming Committee (by Marisa Witmer)
The sophomore class Homecoming Committee just had its sophomore class elections. It is planning its float for the Homecoming parade and has decided on a theme of the wild west. Any sophomore interested in helping with the Homecoming float is welcomed to participate and should contact adviser Mrs. Stacey Dangle. It is planning to have its first fundraiser this year in October, which will be Nan’s Donuts.
International Thespian Honor Society (by Allie Chapman)
There are no events going on right now. Grades 10 through 12 can see Kirstin Gist in her room or email her to join.
Journalism a.k.a “The Arrowhead” (by Allie Chapman)
Staff members are starting their September stories, and junior Bailey Ulmer is designing the new website flag. Students who want to join journalism can see adviser Mrs. Sandra Trick in her room.
Mock Trial (by Ben Gotshall)
Students are currently practicing material from last year. The club is getting ready to perform at Harvard in October. The club will get their state case in November.
Model UN (by Nadia Farenish)
There are no upcoming activities for Model UN. Contact Model UN advisers Mrs. Stacey Dangle and Mr. Jacob Wasilko with questions.
Mu Alpha Theta (by Marisa Witmer)
Mu Alpha Thets is currently in the process of getting new members, any junior or senior can apply and must have a 92 percent average in all their math classes. Once applications are in they will be evaluated and selected by adviser Mrs. Mary Ann Kilpatrick. The link to apply is in the staff directory under Kilpatrick’s page. In the future members plan to help with math tutoring and sell pie at lunches on pie day, March 14.
National Art Honor Society (by Nevaeh Montoya)
The National Art Honor Society is currently setting up meeting dates and student hours. The first event was face painting at the Fall Festival, on Sept. 20. It provides opportunities for students to build art portfolios, leadership skills, community service, and support the Montoursville Arts. Sign-ups will be held in May 2025 for the 2025-2026 school year. At the end of September, there was an induction ceremony for new members. No current fundraising.
National English Honor Society (by Nevaeh Montoya)
NEHS is starting to recruit new members and hand out applications, said its adviser Mrs. Alissa Martin. Its officers are President-Ellie Maeulen, Vice President – Brittany Bader, Secretary – Olivia Witmer, and Treasurer – Zenna Bowes. It will hold the first meeting after all new members have submitted applications.
National Honor Society (by Nevaeh Montoya)
NHS is currently working through new member applications and has 34 eligible members. It offers study and tutoring opportunities during Flex. Students in need of a tutor or extra help can reach out to adviser Miss Rebekah Lundy to be matched with an NHS member to provide tutoring services. It plans to hold a FASFA night this winter and other post-secondary opportunities. It plans to connect with the elementary and middle schools this year. Fundraising will consist of selling clothes.
Prom Committee (by Nevaeh Montoya)
The Prom Committee has no further updates, according to adviser Miss Megan Daily. Check back closer to Prom season.
Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society) (by Marisa Witmer)
Rho Kappa volunteered at the dime pitch at the Fall Festival for the borough museum. It is starting to plan to have a memorial wall at the high school by next school year. Members must have 15 points by May 1, 2025, said adviser Mrs. Stacey Dangle.
Science National Honor Society (by Nadia Farenish)
The Science National Honor Society had its first meeting on Sept. 12 during FLEX. Officers were elected and new events for the year were discussed. Only current members were included. Contact Science National Honor Society advisers Miss Hannah Ostrander and Miss Amanda Walter with questions.

The club might be going to Montage Mountain. Students interested need to talk to adviser Ms. Linda Keiser.
Spanish Club (by Ben Gotshall)
Students must take a year or currently be taking a year of Spanish if they want to join. The club will continue to study Hispanic culture and traditions. Furthermore the club will continue to support local efforts to serve foreigners in the area, such as The Thrive Program at City Alliance Church. Spanish Honor Soc. – Andres Iduarte Chapter (by Allie Chapman)
According to adviser Sra. Andrea Tira, there is an opening for new members, which is open to all students in Spanish III., Spanish IV., and AP Spanish. The new members will join Oct. 10.
Student Government (by Allie Chapman)
Student government is doing a fundraiser with the Potting Bench where the members sell coupon books for $10. Students who missed the meeting can see adviser Mr. Richard DeLong to go join the Google Classroom. Members are working on Homecoming, which is Oct. 4, and the dance is Oct. 5. There will be themed dress up days to encourage school pride for Homecoming and Battle of the Bridge.
Technology Student Association/TSA (by Marisa Witmer)
Technology Student Association, or TSA, is currently doing a fundraiser where students will build cars and then race them downhill. Any students who want to be involved should know that TSA will be involved in different competitions, races, creating different projects to compete in competitions. Adviser Mr. Ben Macinnis and members are hoping to make it all the way to the state competition in April.
Theatre Arts (by Nevaeh Montoya)
Theatre Arts is currently funding the fall play that will be “Charlotte’s Web.” Signing up for Theatre Arts is easy, just get in contact with Adviser Mrs Kirstin Gist. It will help promote the fall play, and drama program. Its fundraising involves the sponsors the club receives.
