Students will be working on one of the following projects. The combination of these projects exposes students to the majority of the tools and equipment in the shop. Students who have Wood every day are expected to complete a minimum of 4 projects throughout the school year. Students who have Wood every other day are expected to complete 3 projects throughout the school year.
- Independent Project (done for special occasions or after completion of the box, bench, and stool)
Some students in Advanced Wood are currently completing a fund raiser project. They are building grandfather clocks, finishing benches, and building cutting boards. The projects completed during this project will be sold with the proceeds going towards helping out with shop costs and other things needed for the wood shop.
Students not participating in the fund raiser project are completing independent study projects. Those projects include clocks or gun cabinets.
Wood I and Advanced Wood:
All students in wood classes will receive a classwork, clean-up, and safety grade (CCS). This is a class participation grade. Due to the nature of the work we do and the structure of the class students are expected to be in class on time, participate in current projects and activities, conduct themselves in a safe manor, and help with clean up at the end of the period. CCS accounts for 12 points per day of a students’ quarterly grade. 540 total per marking period for everyday students and 270 per marking period for every other day students.
