Library Guidelines and Procedures
The library is open every school day from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Students may access the library from study hall, lunch, or with a classroom teacher for independent study, computer use, make-up work, or tests. Except when accompanied by a classroom teacher, students are required to have a pass. The virtual library is always open 24/7! See Miss Grenoble for a list of database passwords for home use.
Most library materials (books, audio books, and graphing calculators) may be signed out for a three week loan period. Equipment (flip videos, headphones, flash drives, and Kindles) may be signed out for a two week loan period. DVDs may be signed out for a one week loan period. Laptops may be signed out for overnight use only.
Students will be charged a $.10 per school day for overdue library materials. There is a $.50 per school day charge for overdue laptops. Overdue notices are sent to students’ first period classrooms every Tuesday and Thursday morning.
Any library material may be renewed up to two times, unless that material is on reserve for another patron. Log in to Destiny and you can renewal your library materials online yourself (unless the material is already overdue or on reserve for another student). Students may renew their materials at the Circulation Desk without having the materials present. Simply ask the librarian to renew your file.
Students may HOLD (or reserve) any library materials at any time on the computer. Log on to Destiny, search on the catalog for your book title, and select the “Hold” tab to place an online hold. OR,you may ask the librarian at the circulation desk to hold materials for you. When reserve materials become available, students will be called to the library.
Montoursville Area High School gladly accepts the donation of new or gently used books. The books must support the school’s curriculum. Old encyclopedia sets, textbooks, and National Geographic magazines are not accepted. Memorial books will have a book plate inserted inside the front of the book, as well as a “Memorial Book” label placed on the outside of the book.
