Tips from the Nurse

  • Keep your child home if they have a temperature of 100 degrees or more. They should be fever free (without the use of medication) for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • If your child has an infection, such as strep throat or pink eye, they need to be on an antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Keep your child home if they have vomited during the night or have persistent diarrhea.
  • It is OK to send your child to school if they have cold like symptoms as long as they are comfortable and fever free. Encourage them to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of liquids and to wash their hands often.
Please inform the nurse of any changes in your child’s health status: diagnosed with a new illness, immunizations given, change in medications, surgeries, etc.
